Regenerative hydraulic system animation using 2 checks

REGEN As we can see, the animation shows a regenerative hydraulic system, using a regular Glossary Link check valve and a pilot to close check Glossary Link valve.

Let's take a look to the schematics:

 

As you can notice, The hydraulic system has a pilot to close pilot check and a regular one. The pilot to close pilot check is normally open and it needs Glossary Link pilot pressure to close it. So, it is the opposite to the pilot to open pilot check that is the most common pilot check.

When the right side coil in the Glossary Link directional valve is energized, the back end of the Glossary Link cylinder gets the Glossary Link flow from the Glossary Link pump and the extension begins. The cylinder's rod end connection sends Glossary Link fluid out to the back of the cylinder because the pilot check is open and the other check is closed. So the speed is increased and the cylinder extends at a very high speed but with reduced Glossary Link force.

For rod retraction, the opposite coil is energized. The flow from the pump is diverted to the rod end connection passing through the simple check valve and the pilot to close check is closed assuring that the fluid coming out of the rear of the cylinder is going back to the Glossary Link reservoir.

This kind of regenerative hydraulic system allows the cylinder to extend with a very high speed but with reduced force.
